Having over 60 girls at 32 different schools means we have sent multiple girls to many different schools. Having so many girls playing at the next level has created an incredibly unique dynamic. Last year at the NCAA National Championships, there was a buzz through the ESPN hosts about just how many girls we had playing in the tournament. What we love to see as coaches the most is the bond that so many of our girls have formed with each other that continues long after they leave our program.
Weekend after weekend during the season I will get a text from one of ever growing RPM family. The girls are so proud to get to see their college teammates that they will all take pictures together and send them to us to let us know that they are thinking about us.
As a coach, there aren't many moments that are cooler than getting to hear from the kids you used to coach. They come in and you go through all the battles with them in juniors. You see them cry and sweat and bleed. You see them want to give up and yet find the courage to push through in pursuit of their dreams. Then the moment comes. They call you and ask you if you will speak at their signing day. It is a very bittersweet moment because you know that you are only a few months away from them going off into the world. It's probably a lot like parenting in some aspects. You feel a mix of emotions. Pride... Sadness... Unlike parenting, however, you know that many of them you will only see on TV, or once in a while when they decide to come back and surprise the current players at practice. But dang do I love and appreciate the pictures and the time they take to remember us as they take them!
